Every season of fashion has a new color that is featured or trending. This is actually an entire industry in itself called Fashion Forecasting. I believe I have talked about it in the past as I tend to talk about color related to fashion quite often (as I am both an artist and a fashionista). I have always had a good ability to know what colors are trending and will be popular both by observation from other countries or places that are ahead of New England in the industry, and also with pure instinct.
This season is going to be interesting as the colors that I predict will be trending are quite opposite from each other. The first color of focus is baby blue. We have been seeing a lot of pastels lately, but baby blue has been an uprising color that I believe will be quite popular in both spring and summer this year! To show off my personal love for this color I created an ensemble that is blue to the max!
The next color which is quite an opposite color pallet is fuchsia. I have been seeing pops of it become popular and I believe by the time the summer season hits you will see it everywhere! It happens to be my favorite color as you can probably tell since it is my brand logo color. So I am very excited to see all things pink in the upcoming seasons! So why does this matter so much? How does it affect me you ask? Well whether or not you are aware that it affects you it does and it will. Maybe not this particular color scheme, but we are all influenced by trends as they are in your face, and everywhere you turn! Colors come and go out of style, and this is because main stream fashion dictates such. I believe I used a quote from The Devil Wears Prada in one of my previous posts where she calls out Anne Hathaway’s character Andy for not thinking she is affected by fashion when she is wearing a color they chose to feature.
Now what are the benefits of being aware of such color trends? Well a few things: One being you can pull out your dusty fuchsia handbag and wear it proud! Aka you can use it as a way of finding things in your closet that haven’t seen the light of day in a while, and take them for a spin around town. Also you can get excited, as I typically do, and find items in the trending colors to feature in your wardrobe. And lastly by knowing color trends you can defend your wallet!
Defend your wallet? What does that mean? As shopaholics we tend to be unaware of these trends and yet still influenced by it, especially in the handbag world! So if you are aware this is a “trend” you can stop yourself from blowing a lot of money on a color or item that may only be popular for a season or two. Save yourself from spending big money on fleeting items. Instead buy items in those colors that are not as expensive! This way if you are attracted to the color you still have items in that shade, but when it goes out of style you won’t be so upset with yourself for buying it.
I feel like shopping is very tricky for many of us… and without even realizing it we are manipulated by the trends we are seeing in every store we go into! Now I have now given you some tools on how to wear the two colors I predict you will be seeing a lot of in both Spring/Summer 2018! And I have hopefully helped guide you when shopping for these colors as well! Defend your spending and keep yourself from going big on trending items, and have fun feeling a head of the trends!
